My name is Chris Davenport.
I started Salt Flats Speed Shop with the intent of creating a high quality fabrication oriented shop focusing on pre war 1930's rods. Building hot rods is my passion, and life.
I have three main focuses here at the shop.
My first focus is in building complete rods from the ground up (check out my 32' sedan). I start by building a solid frame for the foundation. Making sure that the stance is just right. All suspension, motor and trans, are installed. Then the body is re-worked into a piece of art. Doing just the right chop, and making it as smooth in metal as possible. Finishing up with a killer paint job and interior.
My second focus is sheet metal fabrication, and metal finish. We have the ability to shape and create any form in sheet metal. Need a Chop, a roof insert, fender, or a quarter panel? Well you've come to the right place. We'll fix all your cars issues, and have it looking as good in "bare metal" as it did when it was made.
As well as working with steel I also work with Aluminum and Copper. Want some copper headlights, or an aluminum hood look no further. Or if you want to go big I'll build the entire car from scratch. Check out my All Aluminum 1940 Willys Coupe.
My third focus is in chassis fabrication. I am set up to eith use frame rails or build a frame from scratch. My chassis jig is designed to allow me to built the frame with the stance off the ground in mind. That way when the frame comes off of the frame rack it sits on the ground the exact way it was built. No more guessing on the stance of the car. Check out the 32' frame im building 1932 Frame. Also take a look at the frame on my 32' sedan 1932 Sedan.
